Ideology

“To live well is to stand on the edge of a knife”—
Thereby one avoids falling to either abyss of ideological extremes.
Inevitably, people all over the earth cast themselves to one side or the other—
For it is easier to blind oneself and embrace inconsistent and futile ideologies,
Than it is to balance on the serpent of taijitu,
To bear the pain of the knife slicing through your feet.
Tragically, those who manage to sustain themselves on the knives edge,
Find that it slowly cleaves them in two—
They tolerate the pain through dissociation,
Until they fall to either side of the blade
At the end of time.
Show me a man who stands on the edge
And does not falter;
Who will hold his head high,
While he treads lightly
On the razor blade, the serpent’s tail,
Without terror of the abyss below.
